A Wide Range of Experience

MFAW NDT has a wide range of experience: from metals to composites – from large part production testing to acoustic microscopy. Our engineers work with equipment manufacturers to provide instrumentation that meets your requirements and meets your customer’s specifications. Our extensive background in inspection system and ultrasonic instrumentation design makes us an effective driver for getting your needs implemented by the equipment supplier.

MFAW NDT has assisted in the development, installation and commissioning of multiple rolled, extruded, forged, ingot (billot) and precision cast metal inspection systems as well as composite gantry and table based inspection systems. We have designed and developed the largest (70 meter) plate inspection systems in the world.

MFAW NDT has experience in helping our customers meet Nadcap and industry requirements, including: audit preparation, procedure development and audit support.

Our experience dosen’t stop with ultrasonics, we have eddy current, conductivity, penetrant, x-ray, magnetic particle and visual inspection experience too! From handheld equipment to gantry systems. Our long history with major metal research labs and production facilities gives us the experience to use NDT tools to help troubleshoot your production problems.

MFAW NDT engineers have worked with companies in over 20 states from Maine to California and 15 countries from Russia to Korea.

Company History

MFAW NDT has a 30 year history of proven NDT experience, from research & development to production testing. We are both electrical engineer undergraduates with graduate degrees in metallurgy or NDT. We each have a minimum of 25 years of NDT experience.

We have been awarded 5 computer, instrumentation and NDT patents.

Longterm relationships with other support specialists enables MFAW NDT to develop customized software and perform advanced computer modeling for your applications and problem resolution.

Design Assistance
MFAW NDT has a proven track history of understanding the needs, finding an appropriate supplier and assisting in the installation of cost effective inspection technology. Past installations have improved the throughput of inspection facilities by a factor of two or better. By using innovative configurations and advanced technology (where appropriate) the inspection quality and revenue capacity of the facility can be increased. In one case, the new systems increased the revenue capacity of the facility by $250 million a year.
NDT Document System
MFAW NDT has developed robust documentation systems that meet the requirements of the airframe builders and governing bodies. We have established documentation systems for each of our customers that have passed the scrutiny of airframe manufacturers, the FAA, CAA (EASA) and Nadcap. Since each customer works to different standards and requirements, and the customer’s equipment varies, each documentation system is designed and written to meet the customer’s needs.
Inspection Coverage
MFAW NDT engineers and metallurgists can help solve production processing issues and inspection oversights. Our years of experience in research and production facilities will be used to solve production problems when they arise. Using the testing facilities in your location, or ours we can often help you understand the nature of the problem and help resolve the issue quickly. When inspection oversights occur, MFAW NDT can send certified Level 3 inspectors to the end-user’s facility to examine the part and certify it for use. We can also act as an independent resource to help resolve end-user issues or concerns with material quality, processing or damage.

We are supporters of Rotary International and the work that the clubs perform locally and throughout the world. We especially show our support by volunteering our time and resources to visit developing countries. We are proud to have been members of Rotary teams that have made multiple international trips to Ethiopia, Brazil, Peru and Honduras working with Rotarians from several districts (domestic and international) to support optometry and surgical teams, repair hospitals, install solar powered water wells and imunize against polio. We encourage you to support the Rotary International Foundation and visit their website to learn more.
